"ODIN" is known as a "Risørskøyte", a Colin Archer inspired design of a Norwegian fishing vessel. The history of this vessel is that of the original design as a sailing fishing vessel, fishing in the North Sea, she was laid up in the late '30's after a long career at sea. After the war, with rationing, a permit for new construction was not possible. ODIN was resurrected and put in the yard for extensive reconstruction. The hull was lengthened three feet and the rudder reconfigured to internal, a pilothouse added and the Wickmann diesel engine installed; turning a 42' variable pitch propeller. She then returned to the fishing fleet for another 25 years. Discovered by a Master Mariner from the Northwest lying in the Port of Aberdeen, Scottland in 1976, he purchased the ODIN and made a conversion to a yacht. The ODIN Wickmann engine is the second to the last of it's type built on the design of a blacksmith in Bomlo Norway in 1905. This one cylinder, two stroke diesel engine rated at 70 horsepower was reputed as; "Wickmann were built for morons, but built by geniuses". The vessel was used as a liveaboard by the Captain/ Owner until purchesed by the present owner in 1980 and sailed from Norway to Seattle. After about 20 years in Seattle, ODIN returned to Stavanger, Norway in 1998 for a complete restoration and modification to modernize the vessel for comfortable long range cruising in any waters. The installation of twin Yanmar 110hp. engines each with individual propellers, complete wiring upgrade for any port worldwide, and a elegant interior of beautiful wood and rich leather were recognised with first prize as "Best Restored Boat" in Risør, Norway in 2002. ODIN is a TRUE WORLD CLASS YACHT that can easily be managed and cruised by two people!
